Our Laser Safe Birch Plywood is a versatile material which can be used for a number of different applications including, but not limited to: model making, crafts projects and furniture design. Please note that this material is intended for interior use and therefore not suitable for outdoor applications without a moisture resistant treatment / coating.
As this product conforms to E1 formaldehyde levels, we believe it is the best and safest birch plywood to use with laser cutters and engravers.
As a natural product the sheets can bow or twist so we always recommend storing these birch plywood sheets laid flat and stacked on top of each other. They should also be kept in an environment with low humidity levels. If using this material on a laser cutter / engraver then we recommend strapping or taping warped sheets to the machine bed. The material can be UV printed - however, as the warp of the material can be quite extreme and inconsistent we don't advise using it with UV printers unless you can ensure it remains flat due to the risk of head crashes. The likelihood of sheet warping is most likely on the 0.8mm and 1.5mm sheets - but these are also the easiest to tape down securely.
Please be aware that these birch plywood sheets are made from natural materials, therefore the shade and texture of the surfaces may vary between sheets. All plywood sheets are supplied uncoated / unvarnished which makes them perfect for laser cutting, engraving and pyrography - however, as a naturally absorbent material it is susceptible to staining if left unvarnished.
